Why is it so difficult to maintain loyalty amongst my staff?

Loyalty has decreased over recent years as job security has decreased.  Loyalty goes both ways and with employers tending to constantly restructure there is a reduced expectation from employees about having long term employment with a company.  Therefore asking them to contribute more will often result in 'What's in it for me?' question.

How do we increase loyalty?

The best way is to ensure they have a career path and make them aware of the long term goals of the business.   If they know they are belonging to a growing company and have growth opportunities within the company then you will get increased staff loyalty.

Temporarily. you can increase the job satisfaction and staff loyalty by a mixture of tangible and non-tangible rewards such as recognition, job expansion and a good reward system.

Bear in mind that the employee must be happy in the work environment however.   If the relationship with their boss is poor then it does not matter how your reward them,   they will definitely leave.
